Has anyone been watching Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year? I am and am loving it.
It is fascinating to see how the painters interpret each of the locations and find inspiration. Equally how the judges make their choice - artist Tai Shan Schierenberg, curator Kathleen Soriano and art dealer Kate Bryan. The series is presented by Joan Bakewell and Frank Skinner.
I could easily watch each season a few times over as there is so much detail and much to learn.
The premise of the show was that the National Trust UK wanted to find new talent to capture fresh interpretations of the stunning landscapes of Britain. They teamed with Sky Arts to search for a talented artist to create an artwork drawing for their collection.
The first series in 2015 was filmed at Trust sites, and the winner received a £10,000 commission to paint Flatford, a quiet hamlet and countryside that inspired the English Romantic painter John Constable.

The finalist in the second series painted their prize commission at Petworth House in West Sussex, where the surrounding landscape inspired many of J.W.M Turner's paintings.

I would love to be there at one of the events. It would be fun to paint as a wild card on the day!
