I love this home - HMS Owl. I watched the renovation process on the show - Restoration Man - George Clark. They transformed a derelict World War II airfield tower in the Scottish Highlands. Wow, what a project.
It is available to rent on Airbnb here

Another apartment that you couldn't pick the location. First thought would be Paris, but you are wrong. It is Warsaw!

I would love to stay here, and I can. It is a newly renovated castle in Scotland. With 46 guest rooms in the town of Braemar, Aberdeenshire, in the famous Highlands, an area first made popular when Queen Victoria visited the area and purchased Balmoral Castle.
Found here
For any that find the above hotel would be too vintage for them, there is the following option - a converted garage, that is a one-bed vacation rental in Edinburgh.

Can you guess where this home is? Would you believe, New York?
Not what you expect from a large capital city, but the relaxed feel, would be quite welcoming when returning at the end of the day.
It is the home of John Derian.
Photos found here. Shop the interiors here.

This That Whatever - Art
Has anyone been watching Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year? I am and am loving it.
It is fascinating to see how the painters interpret each of the locations and find inspiration. Equally how the judges make their choice - artist Tai Shan Schierenberg, curator Kathleen Soriano and art dealer Kate Bryan. The series is presented by Joan Bakewell and Frank Skinner.
I could easily watch each season a few times over as there is so much detail and much to learn.
The premise of the show was that the National Trust UK wanted to find new talent to capture fresh interpretations of the stunning landscapes of Britain. They teamed with Sky Arts to search for a talented artist to create an artwork drawing for their collection.
The first series in 2015 was filmed at Trust sites, and the winner received a £10,000 commission to paint Flatford, a quiet hamlet and countryside that inspired the English Romantic painter John Constable.
Here is an example of John Constable, found at Art Gallery NSW.
"Landscape with a goatherd and goats (after Claude)" 1823.
The finalist in the second series painted their prize commission at Petworth House in West Sussex, where the surrounding landscape inspired many of J.W.M Turner's paintings.
Here is an example of Joseph Mallord William Turner, found at Art Gallery NSW.
High force, Fall of the Tees, Yorkshire, 1816
I would love to be there at one of the events. It would be fun to paint as a wild card on the day!
I found Making a Mark while trying to finding more information on the show. The blogger goes into great detail about the show an the artists. So if you need to explore more, start there.
