I hope you are sitting, because I am finally going on a holiday and flying in a plane and going international to....Turkey!
Yes, I will be sitting on a plane for the next 20 hours, landing in Istanbul.
So for the next 10 or so days, I hope to visit the following....
Sultanahmet, the place in Istanbul that you go to see, home to most of the major historic sites such as Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque and the Aya Sofya.
Hagia Sophia
One of the historical architectural wonders that still remains standing today, has an important place in the art world with its architecture, grandness, size and functionality.
Blue Mosque
Across from St. Sophia built in the 16th century by the architect Mehmet, is known as the Blue Mosque because of its magnificent interior decoration of blue Iznik tiles
Topkapi Palace
The great palace of the Ottoman sultans from the 15th to the 19th centuries housing an exquisite collection of crystal, silver, and Chinese porcelain, robes worn by the sultans and their families, the famous jewels of the Imperial Treasury, miniatures, the Holy Mantle; enshrining relics of the Prophet Mohammed
